Castle Shannon warns of door-to-door solicitor
Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Castle Shannon Police are warning residents about an unauthorized door-to-door solicitor who has been operating in the borough and surrounding towns.

A news release from Police Chief Ken Truver today said a white woman in her 20's has been soliciting door to door, reportedly for the Epilepsy Foundation and/or some type of walk-athon. In the most recent incident, she was described as having dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a dark coat and carrying a clipboard.

Police said a woman matching that description was arrested in another town in the fall, and police are comparing notes.

Solicitors in Castle Shannon must apply for permission to conduct business in the borough and must display their permit at the request of any citizen or police officer.

Any resident who donated money to the suspect in this case is asked to contact Castle Shannon Police.
