The region's literary life is starting to pop back up like those brave green shoots in the thawed landscape. The rest of March is busy with readings and author appearances, headed by the return of Pittsburgh native James Ragan March 22.
Mr. Ragan graduated from St. Vincent College in 1966 and moved to California, where he directed the professional writing program at the University of Southern California for 25 years.
He's also an award-winning poet with seven published collections who has read his poetry in international programs around the world. Mr. Ragan is also a playwright and screenwriter.
Bowling Green University has named him distinguished visiting professor in poetry for its spring term.
