The Jayhawks stormed back from 16 points down to defeat Cambria Heights, 67-57, in a PIAA Class AA first-round game at Fox Chapel.
Cambria Heights (19-8) led, 30-14, in the second quarter behind seven first-half 3-pointers. The WPIAL champion Jayhawks (25-2) surged to take a one-point lead after three quarters before pulling away in the final quarter.
Kayla Cook's 18 points led a quartet of Jeannette players in double figures. Ciara Gregory scored 11 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter.
South Fayette 44, Cranberry 42: Lizzy King's driving layup with 10 seconds left pushed the Lions (18-7) to the upset win against District 9 champion Cranberry (22-4) at Clarion University. King finished with 15 points.
Seton-LaSalle 62, North East 59: Katie Gattuso scored 16 points and Molly Tuite added 15 to help the WPIAL runner-up Rebels (21-6) defeat North East (20-6) at Chartiers Valley.
Avonworth 49, Greenville 44: The Antelopes (23-2) jumped to a 14-point halftime lead and held on to defeat Greenville (22-4) at Kennedy Catholic. Tara Gallupe made 9 of 10 free throws and scored 16 points for Avonworth.
North Star 42, Sto-Rox 37: The Vikings (17-6) were edged by District 5 champion North Star (25-1) at Pitt-Johnstown. North Star outscored Sto-Rox, 20-11, in the second half. Dee Dee King led the Vikings with 10 points.
Southern Huntingdon, 63, Beaver 47: A two-point halftime lead turned into a double-digit loss for the Bobcats (18-7) against Southern Huntingdon (23-3) at North Hills. Paige Onuska led Beaver with 18 points. Southern Huntingdon made 25 of 28 free throws.
Marion Center 55, Greensburg Central Catholic 53: Becca Bowser made a layup with 2.2 seconds left to give District 6 champion Marion Center (23-3) a win against the Centurions (19-3) at Central Cambria. Erica Brooks scored 17 points for the Centurions.
Villa Maria 60, Bishop Canevin 24: Despite holding Notre Dame recruit Kayla McBride to 10 points, the Crusaders (18-7) were no match for District 10 champion Villa Maria (24-2) at Edinboro. Dana Heidenreich led Bishop Canevin with 10 points.
Mt. Lebanon 63, Fox Chapel 33: Defending champion Mt. Lebanon (25-2) routed Fox Chapel (19-5) at North Allegheny. Jess Babe scored 13 points for Mt. Lebanon, which had 11 players score. Maria Ricci and Sara D'Amico had eight points apiece for Fox Chapel.
Baldwin 61, Allderdice 39: Belma Nurkic scored 20 of her 31 points in the first quarter to lead the WPIAL runner-up Highlanders (21-5) to the win against City League champion Allderdice (17-7) at Brashear.
Erie Strong Vincent 42, Bethel Park 38: District 10 champion Erie Strong Vincent (17-4) edged Bethel Park (19-7) at Edinboro. Laurel Miller scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the second half for Bethel Park.
State College 47, Peters Township 38: The Indians (14-13) were ousted by District 6 champion State College (19-6) at Tyrone. Merissa Morgan scored 16 points for Peters Township.
